SIXTY golfers teed off in the fourth annual charity day at Gedney Hill Golf Club and raised more than £1,000 for the St Barnabas Spalding Hospice.

The golf day should have happened in April but was postponed due to rain.

Luckily golfers enjoyed a rare dry day for the match and there were prizes galore for members of the 15 teams.

The team competition was won by The Shirkers, with Bull One claiming the runners-up spot and The Paperboys earning an honourable third.

Among those winning nearest the pin prizes were Steve Horton, Mick Yould, Kurt Mark, Jim Starbuck and Rob Newns.

The charity’s community fundraiser, Vikki Allen, said: “The tournament was organised by one of our volunteers, Terry Grantham, and we would like to thank everyone who helped and supported us on the day.”
