Pupils put a hop and a jump into their fundraising with their annual sponsored skip for the British Heart Foundation.

Thomas Cowley High School’s annual Jump Rope for Heart event was in its 29th year and this year’s theme was Celebrate Britain, with each house area decorated with red, white and blue bunting, banners and union jacks.

Students also sported the colours, many in fancy dress and onesies – with prizes for the best.

In total £5,265 has been pledged, with the winning house being Bass where students raised £1,706.

School spokesman Fay Houltby said: “Although the day was cold and overcast with occasional spots of rain it was a great success with lots of money being arised for a well worthy cause.”
