Pupils on TV chef course dish up barbecue treat

PARENTS were given a taste of what their children have been learning at an end of term barbecue.

A group of about 15 youngsters from the Peele Community College, Long Sutton, cooked up a treat of mouth-watering burgers, salads and rice for the traditional event which forms their final assessment for their Jamie Oliver vocational education course.

They also made marinades for the meats, which were then cooked on a barbecue made by the college’s engineering group.

As well as doling out their dishes, made from scratch from raw ingredients, to their parents, staff and governors also got to sample the delights, as did the engineering students and their parents.

Sue Butler, of the Peele Community College, said: “Everyone agreed that it was a nutritious as well as a delicious end of term treat.”
