WESTMERE Primary School pupils at Sutton Bridge have been learning about road safety – and some found out about cars going too fast when they tried out hand-held radar.

All pupils have been involved in road safety lessons of one kind or another and some had a walk around the village to look at potential hazards, such as over-hanging hedges that might obscure a road user’s view, while others visited Boston to study traffic there.

Lessons have been delivered with the help of Robin Mardon and Kay Taman, of Lincolnshire Road Safety Unit.

Key Stage One leader Beth Jones said pupils were being encouraged to use what they learned during ‘walk to school’ week, when they were asked to go to school on foot, bike or scooter rather than as car passengers.
