Spalding Gentlemen’s Society presents a lecture on The Recreation of a Page from the Westminster Psalter on Tuesday (7.30pm) at St Mary & St Nicolas Parish Church, Spalding.

The British Museum has commissioned the lecturer, Alex Summers, to create an exact reproduction of a page from the Westminster Psalter, using period correct materials and techniques, for their Magna Carta exhibition. The Psalter is of the same period as the Magna Carta, and of the Crowland Cartulary in Spalding Gentlemen’s Society’s museum.

Alex will be discussing techniques and materials used for the illumination work, and will be showing the page itself in this fantastic interactive discussion. Audience members will be able to handle the materials, examine the page closely and ask any questions they may have.

Tickets are £5 on the door and refreshments will be available.
