PROUD committee members at Dyke Village Hall have officially unveiled their newly refurbished kitchen.

The kitchen was completely gutted and kitted out with new units and equipment, thanks to a £7,902 grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

The committee, who carried out much of the labour themselves, opened the hall for a cheese and wine evening last week to give lottery representatives and professional contractors the chance to see how the hard work had paid off.

Treasurer Trevor Mele said: “The original kitchen had been in there for about 30 years and was a various mish-mash of units that people had donated as they changed their own kitchens.

“We hope it will make a difference to the village hall.

“We have had to turn down party bookings in the past because the kitchen was not up to standard.”

The public will be able to take a look at the work at a bingo night on Friday from 7.30pm.

Bookings can be made for hall hire by contacting Christine Woods on 01778 426098.
