GEDNEY Church had a £900 boost to a £30,000 building project to install new toilets and build a new bell ringing floor.

The money was raised at a concert in the church by the RAF Wyton Area Voluntary Band who appeared under the musical directorship of Graham Sheldon.

Church treasurer Jane Webb said between 150 and 170 people attended and enjoyed a varied programme of music, including traditional band tunes and popular classics such as the themes to Star Wars and Chariots of Fire.

The church is installing one standard toilet and a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities in the base of the tower, where the bell ropes are currently – and that means they will need a new bellringing floor and steps leading up to it.

The RAF band visited the church two years ago and the latest concert proved just as popular with the enthusiastic audience.
