A TABLE top sale at Holbeach Community Centre became a moneyspinner for the Poppy Appeal.

The Holbeach branch of the Royal British Legion Women’s Section was able to send more than £300 raised by the event to national funds for the welfare of servicemen and women.

It was the first of the twice-yearly sales held by organisers Les Ward and Brenda Twigg, where all proceeds went to the branch.

Branch chairman Jocelyn Darlow said: “We’ve had a stall at this sale but never benefited from the whole event before. It’s a really good boost for the Poppy Appeal, which of course goes on all year round.”
