Polka Dot Dance Troupe from Spalding have just returned from dancing on board Independence of the Seas, the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, after having been invited to perform.
The troupe is a group of children aged between ten and 17, who take their performances worldwide, and rehearsed for weeks to put together a 25 minute performance to showcase including songs by Madonna, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston.
Although they were invited back to the cruise after a previous performance, the troupe had to go through a stringent audition processes in order to conform with the high standard’s accepted at Royal Caribbean. Whilst on board as well as rehearsing and performing, the children were able to enjoy the activities available. Molly Howitt (16), from the troupe, said “ Dancing on a cruise ship is an amazing experience - you are able to see all aspects of how the performers on the ship work and they give you tips and guidance if you want to pursue dancing as a career. It was just amazing!”
The troupe has now been contacted to perform on board one of Royal Caribbean cruise ships in Dubai in 2016.
