YOUNGSTERS were able to enjoy a mobile skate park for the day thanks to a grant from Lincolnshire Police.

BMX and skateboarding enthusiasts had hours of fun at Holbeach Hurn Village Hall playing field.

The village hall committee received a grant of £360 – from the county police’s seized property fund – to help towards the £660 cost of hiring the equipment. There was also a £50 donation from the village church, St Luke’s.

Committee member Colleen Hawes said it was decided to organise the event after receivinbg multiple inquiries from bored local youngsters.

She said: “The children kept asking about the possibility of a permanent skate park, so I though we’d set one up for the day and see how it went.

“We didn’t advertise it outside the village but we had about 15 kids turn up. Bearing in mind there are only 30 around the right age group for the park, it wasn’t a bad turnout.”

King’s Lynn firm Highline Adventure set up the park.
