A new pavilion to serve as a stage for outdoor plays and musical performances is likely to be built in Ayscoughfee Gardens, in Church Gate, Spalding.

Proposals for the pavilion – and repairs to the roof of an aviary – appear in a planning application drawn up by South Holland District Council, which is expected to go before the authority’s own planning committee later this year.

Deputy council leader Coun Nick Worth said: “We need something in the gardens to provide a nice place for people to come and sit and enjoy some music – it will add to the atmosphere of the gardens.”

He said the plan is likely to be considered at either the March or June planning committee meetings – it won’t be considered during the period in between those months because of the elections.
