A soldier from Pinchbeck has won an army award after finishing his recruit training.
Private Aidan Moore (24) successfully completed the Combat Infantryman’s Course at the Infantry Training Centre in Catterick, North Yorkshire and received his award at the pass out parade ceremony on Friday.
He said: “I tried to join the army when I was younger, but my body mass index was too high. After that, I did a variety of routine jobs, all the while losing weight, but I was
determined to join the army. When our son, Dexter, came along I knew I had to secure a stable career – I also have two stepdaughters. I have really enjoyed the course, the only downside is that I have missed Chelsea, who I am marrying this Saturday, and the children.”
Private Moore will take some well-earned leave before joining his new unit the 1 st Battalion The Mercian Regiment in Bulford.
