A NURSE who helped care for a baby boy abandoned in Spalding 60 years ago read his appeal for information about his origins in last week’s Spalding Guardian and has a gift for him.

Chris Lewis, who is 60 and living in Leicester with his family, was left in a raffi basket wrapped in a torn piece of blanket and abandoned close to the town’s railway station.

After being found he was cared for at the old Johnson Hospital before eventually being adopted. He knows nothing about his background and hoped someone might be able to help.

The nurse, who does not want to be identified, has two photographs of baby Chris with nurses who looked after him.

She said:”We were quite upset when he left us. I’d like him to have the pictures.”
