The picture above (left) shows Harold Baldock, son of Mr and Mrs F Baldock, of South Street, Bourne, in 1916.

Harold was formerly on HMS Campania, but was only on the Natal a few days before the explosion that claimed the lives of 300 people.

The report said: “Young Baldock had leave just before Christmas and was at home, and sad to relate, a week later he was no more.”

Lance-Corpl Charles Cornwell, of Deeping St James, attached to the 8th Lincs, had died as a result of wounds.
