PERFORMANCE artists reversing like cars with only rearview mirrors to see where they were going gave a taste of things to come in October at Ayscoughfee Hall.

Up-and-coming artists from all over England came to Spalding to participate in a three-day workshop and rehearsal for a unique performance event that’s happening at the hall on selected weekdays and weekends next month.

They’d been handpicked for the weekend’s masterclass with Amanda Coogan, pupil of ‘grandmother of performance art’ Marina Abramovic, to work on creating their own pieces in the hall and gardens.

Guided excursions to see the Compass exhibition of performance art at Grimsthorpe Castle and Woolsthorpe Manor as well as Ayscoughfee will be setting off free of charge from Spalding on October 10 and 11.
