THE WI Hall in Holbeach was packed with people and festooned with Union flags for Last Night of The Proms with Swineshead Silver Band on Saturday night.

Red, white and blue was everywhere – and Ken Knock, secretary of hosts The Rotary Club of Holbeach, took the dress code almost to its most patriotic degree by wearing a Union Flag waistcoat, bow tie and bowler hat.

Club member Helen Scott said: “The audience sang their hearts out to popular wartime classics along with Land of Hope And Glory and Jerusalem.”

The club was raising money to support international projects as well as Rotary’s own charity foundation which helped pay for improvements in Carter’s Park last year. Rotary also financed a baby changing unit at the hall.
