What was being billed as a “refined, humorous and entertaining” concert party was being held in Spalding town centre to raise money for the Red Cross Fund.

The Spaldaires Costume Concert Party was putting on a grand evening concert at the Co-operative Hall in the town.

Under the direction of Mr George Woodthorpe, the event was described as a “patriotic concert”.

Those pictured (from left) were Miss Elsie Price (pianist), Miss Flo Green (soubrette), Miss Ada Jex (mezzo-soprano), Mr Charles Ball (light comedian), Mr George Woodthorpe (tenor) and Mr Morris Blackburn (humorist).

Prices were 1/6 for front seats and 1/- for second seats, while those who chose to sit at the back of the hall or in the gallery paid 6d. Children were half price in all seats.
