Spalding’s Calvary Baptist Church has welcomed only its second pastor in charge in a little over 30 years.

Church founder Pastor Glenn Palmer is returning home to America, leaving the Carrington Road church in the hands of his successor, Pastor Kevin Cowdrey (37).

Kevin is married to Clare, a social worker, and they have two children, Kaiden (6) and Addison (4).

Born in Cambridge, Kevin moved to Northern Ireland with his family as a young boy, returning to England after his marriage.

In 2007 he became involved in a Hebron Fellowship Church in Middlesborough. The couple then moved to Stoke-on-Trent, where Clare’s father is a pastor, and Kevin attended Bible College at Stoke’s Milton Baptist Church before taking up his role in Spalding.

Kevin said: “We are enjoying getting to know the people.”

Among their first ventures will be an open day with entertainment for children at the start of summer.
