OXFAM and many of the volunteers who staff the charity’s Spalding shop in Hall Place last week said a fond farewell to the shop’s volunteer manager of 19 years, Rita Nottage.

Oxfam’s area manager Caroline Jackson thanked Rita for her long voluntary service and presented her with a certificate and an Oxfam Unwrapped gift - a donation to help the education of children in Tanzania.

The shop’s new paid manager Gary Peatling said afterwards: “All the volunteers who have worked with Rita over the years contributed to a gift in appreciation of all she’s done for the shop which was presented to her at a separate retirement event.

“She’s been very generous and helpful to me and filling her shoes won’t be easy.”
