Blitzing rubbish is a job for the whole community in the eyes of pupils at the Garth School, Spalding.

They collected ten bags of rubbish at Castle Sports Complex as part of South Holland District Council’s Litter Blitz.

Laura Simpkins, South Holland District Council’s Waste and Recycling Support Officer, said it was a “really successful” pick.

The scheme has been encouraging members of the community to take responsibilty for a small area of land of their choice.

Teaching assistant Aaron Bloodworth said the event was something different to try
and the pupils “absolutely loved it”.

Mr Bloodworth said the despite the weather not being brilliant the pupils kept going.

He said: “We walked down from the school and picked up rubbish from around the park, in the children’s play area and then we picked all the way back to school too.”

Laura said: “It was great
to see them getting
involved.”
