A coast-to-coast bike ride, a spring ball and the sale of plastic toys are just some of the events lined up for this year’s Two Lips Appeal.

The annual fundraiser, organised by the Rotary Club of Spalding, aims to raise at least £10,000 for charities helping young people, the disabled and volunteer lifesavers in South Holland.

This year’s chosen charities are LIVES First Responders, Riding for the Disabled Association, Spalding Hospice Foundation and several Rotary-backed charities in the area.

Two Lips Appeal organiser Alan Porter said: “This is our third year and we want businesses, organisations and individuals to organise events to raise money for the four charities chosen.

“We also have plastic lips which can be bought throughout the area and every penny raised will be spent in South Holland.”

A Two Lips Charity Week takes place from May 12 to 17 when events, including car washes, auctions, raffles and quizzes, are expected to take place across the area.

Another highlight is a coast-to-coast bike ride from the Lake District to County Durham by ex-Rotary president Andy Prior and his wife Sarah and the Two Lips Charity Ball at Castle Sports Complex, Spalding, on May 17.

Richard Thacker, president of Spalding Rotary Club, said: “There are lots of good things happening in South Holland and The Two Lips Appeal has been fantastic over the past two years when we’ve raised in the region of £18,000.

“It just proves that even in these difficult time, there’s some goodness here in South Holland.”
