SPALDING has been involved in celebrations leading up to one of the two major events happening this year, the 2012 Olympics.

A free weekend of arts events took place at Ayscoughfee Hall Museum last weekend as part of the Inspire Lincolnshire programme, which comes under the Cultural Olympiad umbrella, the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic movement.

There were arts and crafts sessions for youngsters, ‘yarn bombing’ from knitter in residence Carol Parker as well as readings from Lincolnshire poet laureate Joel Stickley and national poet for Wales Gillian Clarke.

The weekend was arranged by Cultural Solutions and Renaissance East Midlands in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council.
