Olympic gymnasts of the future may have been found at Monkshouse Primary School after a dance workshop last week.

About 90 nursery and reception children took part in a series of workshops designed to improve balance, co-ordination and fitness.

The workshops were led by Claire Patman of Spalding School of Dance and featured activities such as Follow My Leader and clapping.

Holly Gray, assistant headteacher at the school, said: “We’ve had an Olympic topic at the school this term and the workshop was aimed at enhancing that and getting the children active.

“The children were split into groups and Claire was fantastic at keeping the workshops simple and the way she catered for the age range involved.

“There were a few children who started to shine, showing some good gymnastic skills, and they loved it.”
