So Spalding is once again to have its roads ripped up for underground work, this time by Anglian Water.
It does make one wonder if Spalding is somehow twinned with Beirut what with the town’s streets seemingly always having trenches dug.
With all the traffic chaos, perhaps it could feature in an episode of BBC TV’s Top Gear programme as teams compete to see who can get through the town the quickest by car within a given calendar month?
The Lincolnshire Tourist Board could list Spalding as the alternative M25 motorway sensation but in town with shops to look at while sitting in traffic as opposed to miles of concrete. But, honestly, will there ever be a non road up time in the foreseeable future?
