LETTER: Traders should be helped by a cut in business rates

instead of calling for the traders to help the town surely it is the council who should be helping the traders by reducing the business rates.

There has to be an initiative now to help the town centre survive.

I would like to see more help for the market. Why not have a Sunday market?

Also, if the Red Lion Quarter is struggling, why not let some of the market traders go indoors during the winter months?

Don’t let us hide behind the parking issue here. I know traders have campaigned for free parking and it may be one of the reasons behind people staying away from town centre shopping but there has to be more in the town to offer the community.

If the council is willing to offer rate reductions for traders to set up in the Red Lion Quarter, then town centre traders should be given more help.
