LETTER: Thanks for RBL fundraising

Have your say

DURING the latter part of July and all of August the Royal British Legion members have been manning a tombola stall on Saturdays and Sundays at the Springfields Shopping Outlet.

This combined with the sale of Poppy oriented merchandise and the general public’s overwhelming generosity has resulted in the sum of £4,175.52 being donated to the 2010/2011 Poppy Appeal.

I would like to thank Springfields’ management and staff for their assistance and co-operation in addition to their adoption of the Poppy Appeal without which this would not have been possible.

Thanks are also in order to the following outlet traders who charitably donated prizes for the final tombola on August Bank Holiday – Event Jewellers, Past Times, Denby, Maxitrade, Festival Garden Centre, The Works, Antler, Pavers Shoes, Whittard, Farah, Mountain Warehouse, Frankie and Benny’s, and last but by no means least, The Edinburgh Woollen Mill.

Those people who managed to see Buster the explosives sniffer dog and his handlers all agreed that his presence was much appreciated as was his collecting ability.

Finally, without all the hard work and extremely long hours put in by the branch members and their families none of the campaign would have been achieved so I am more than happy to thank them and to congratulate them on such a splendid success.
