SICARIO

Released: Today (Thursday)

An idealistic FBI agent (Edge of Tomorrow’s Emily Blunt) is enlisted by a government task force to aid in the escalating war against drugs along the border between the USA and Mexico.

Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin co-star in this action-drama from the director of Prisoners, that is already notching great early reviews.

THE WALK

Released: Tomorrow (Friday)

Back to the Future and Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis utilises IMAX and Real 3D for intense death-defying moments in this biographical story of French high-wire artist Philippe Petit (Inception’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt).

This chronicles his attempt to cross the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in 1974.

REGRESSION

Released: Tomorrow (Friday)

Harry Potter starlet Emma Watson makes a rare headline movie appearance in this suspenseful Minnesota-set thriller as a young woman who accuses her father of an unspeakable crime.

And when he unexpectedly admits guilt, a detective (Ethan Hawke) unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery after investigating the case.

CRIMSON PEAK

Released: Next Friday (October 16)

This fantasy horror from Pan’s Labyrinth director Guillermo Del Toro sees an aspiring author (Mia Wasikowska) tempted into marriage by a mysterious outsider (Tom Hiddleston).

But after she ties the knot, she is swept away to a house – where her husband’s sister (Jessica Chastain) lives – that hauntingly comes alive.

PAN

Released: Next Friday (October 16)

Hugh Jackman stars as evil pirate Blackbeard in the latest Peter Pan-based movie to hit the big screen, as an orphan (Levi Miller) gets spirited away to the magical Neverland.

There he ultimately discovers his destiny in this family adventure from the director of Atonement, that co-stars Tron: Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund.

HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2

Released: Next Friday (October 16)

Dracula (Adam Sandler) and pals – including Kevin James’ Frankenstein – try to bring out the monster in his half-human, half-vampire Grandson, in order to keep his beloved daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) from leaving the hotel. Steve Buscemi and Andy Samberg co-star in this follow-up to the profitable 2012 animation hit.

THE LAST WITCH HUNTER

Released: Friday October 23

Vin Diesel tries to prove he can headline another franchise outside of Fast and Furious – after the third Riddick instalment flopped – as a hunter who is the last line of defence between humanity and the combined forces of evil witches in this fantasy adventure.

The Lord of the Rings’ Elijah Wood and Game of Thrones’ Rose Leslie co-star.
