PEARL Woods, of Green Lane, Spalding, died on July 8, aged 74, in Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.
Pearl was born in Fosdyke, the fourth child of the late Alan and Miriam Griggs. She spent her childhood in Pode Hole where her father worked in agriculture.
She attended Pode Hole School and Spalding Gleed Girls’ School and worked on the land, mainly in the flower industry.
After a courtship with Charles (known as Bill) Woods, they married at West Pinchbeck Church. Their home was at Cradge Bank, Spalding, where they adopted David and Colin as babies. Their youngest Martin was born there as well.
Pearl and Bill moved to Holbeach Hurn and Weston, before Bill’s death resulted in Pearl and Martin moving to Clay Lake, Spalding.
In the early 1990s Pearl travelled to see her sister Joan and her family in the Blue Mountains and Sydney, Australia.
When she retired Pearl moved to Green Lane, and was actively involved in St Thomas’s Road Methodist Church, Pop In and Four Seasons Clubs and other social groups.
A funeral service was held at Broad Street Methodist Church. Family mourners were David Woods and Diane Ivatt, Colin and Diane Woods, Martin Woods, Adam and Liz Ivatt, Tom Ivatt, Luke Woods, Joan Maguire, Sylvia and Stan Robinson, Rachel and Paul Butcher, Brian and Sarah Griggs and Danny Griggs, Elaine Robinson, Elisa Robinson, Hayley Reeve, Valerie and Don Venables, Chris Toynton, Rose Toynton, Ellis Cray, Brian and Sheila Woods, David and Veronica Woods and Kathy French.
