Mr Bob Patterson, of Surfleet, died in the Johnson Community Hospital, Spalding, on November 10, aged 86.
He was born in Oulton Broad, Suffolk, and his interest in boats stayed with him all his life.
He was a soldier in the closing days of World War Two, and was based in Dusseldorf where he was a driver for the High Commissioner of Germany.
In 1955 he married Joan and they moved to Spalding to manage A Huxford that later became Rumbelows.
Mr Patterson is survived by his wife Joan and sons Michael, Gregory and Philip.
Bob was received into the Catholic Church and a requiem Mass to celebrate his life was held at St Norberts RC Church, in Spalding. He was cremated and his ashed interred opposite the family home in Surfleet cemetary.
