SPALDING’S Two Lips Appeal is on the lookout for deserving local causes that could benefit from next year’s golden week of fundraising.
The Rotary Club of Spalding, which launched the appeal and spearheaded the community effort that raised an amazing £10,531 within one week in May, wants you, our readers, to nominate your favourite local charity and give your reasons why it should be chosen.
Chairman of the club’s fundraising committee Alan Porter, who as president originated the Two Lips idea, said: “Our target was £10,000 and we thought it was very ambitious, but the four charities we’d chosen to benefit and the rest of the community made a fantastic effort and exceeded it.
“We’ll gather in the readers’ suggestions and decide which four will share the proceeds of next year’s Two Lips week from May 11 to 18.”
The four charities which each received £2,000 from the first Two Lips pot this year are Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, Johnson Community Hospital League of Friends, Spalding Phab Club and local Scouts and Guides.
After expenses the balance went to Rotary Club charities.
Please email your nominations, which must be registered charities operating in the South Holland and Deepings area, and outline your reasons to firstname.lastname@example.org before the deadline, August 30.
