FITNESS employee Nick Franklin is taking on a two-day challenge to raise money in memory of his dad.
Nick Franklin is hoping to raise money for the British Heart Foundation with a continuous 48 hour ride – the second sponsored event the 24-year-old has arranged to back the charity.
He said: “There’s a history of heart problems in the family. My father died suddenly two years ago, so I just want to give something back to the foundation so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.”
In May last year Nick held a football match in memory of his father Graham at Carter’s Park in Holbeach.
The game was between Holbeach Bank, with whom Nick played, and a selected XI made up of players that had been managed by his father at Holbeach Bank, Holbeach St Marks and The Black Bull in Holbeach.
The event raised an impressive £1,200 for the BHF, and Franklin is hoping to exceed that amount this time around.
He added: “I would like to raise £2,000. If I beat last year’s total then I’ll be happy.”
Nick, of Edinburgh Walk, Holbeach, will be carrying out the sponsored spin cycle at the LA Fitness gym in King’s Lynn on Wednesday, September 28 at 9am, finishing on the Friday at 9am.
