News of Holbeach and Spalding men at war

P O Mechanic G C P Rummings, of Holbeach, had been mentioned in despatches 100 years ago.

It was in recognition of him assisting in rescuing wounded men during the Gallipoli landing operations. Mr Rummings, attached to the Naval Air Service, was formerly clerk to Mr A W Tindall at Holbeach.

News had been received of the death of Lance-Sgt R Mackman, of Spalding, after being wounded in the Dardanelles.

He was attached to the Lincoln Regiment.
