YOUNGSTERS in Sutton Bridge are urged to support a free youth club on a bus that will wheel into the village on four Tuesday evenings from the middle of October.

District councillors Chris Brewis and Michael Booth are footing the £400 bill from their members’ budgets – and hope the mobile youth club will open the way for something permanent.

It’s around a year since the old club closed its doors in the Methodist Chapel but talks are going on to find new premises so a permanent club can be formed if there is enough support in the village.

Flyers inviting Sutton Bridge youngsters to attend will be handed out on school buses heading for Peele Community College, Long Sutton, and the Spalding schools.

The mobile club will be at The Curlew Centre car park, in Bridge Road, between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesdays between October 16 and November 6. Activities for children aged 11-16 years will include computers, DVDs, popular games machines, arts and crafts and more.

Coun Brewis said the old youth club held at the Methodist Chapel fell by the wayside because they couldn’t fund it any more. “We are hoping to find some premises in the parish and we are having another meeting on October 3,” he said.
