SPALDING’S Sir John Gleed School and the Holbeach St Marks Community Garden are two organisations that have benefiting from hundreds of garden tools from Morton Hall immigration removal centre near Swinderby.
Groups from across Lincolnshire were given a starter pack of spruced up garden tools to help them tend their vegetable patches and green spaces.
The event was the first in Lincolnshire since IRC Morton Hall began refurbishing old and broken garden tools as part of The Conservation Foundation’s Tools Shed project.
Tons of tools have been donated at garden centres and recycling points since the Tools Shed project began five years ago. Through refurbishing the tools the project also allows detainees to learn valuable skills and provides a chance for them to help the local community.
