Residents of Fleet will no longer have to take a short bus journey to find a local noticeboard.
With thanks to an anonymous donor and the sponsorship of David Goodridge of Invicta Developments, a new board has now been built on the corner of Rowan Close and Fleet Road for Fleet Parish Council.
According to parish council member Val Gemmel, “the new notice board will establish a sense of identity and belonging to Fleet for the residents in the area which other than a road sign, has nothing to differentiate itself from Fleet Hargate.”
Since the removal of the bus shelter on Rowan Close, which was a prime location for anti-social behaviour, the new notice board was installed on its foundations and serves to provide the community with more information than the small notice board situated near the post office in Fleet Hargate.
The board displays the dates, agenda and minutes of the council meeting as well as information on the upcoming Flower Festival along with information about the craft clubs in the village.
