On the day a Royal baby was born, Spalding and south Lincolnshire crowned its new Prince and Princess at the successful Tulipmania event at Springfields on Saturday.

The judging panel chose six-year-old Marisa Kievietts as Princess and Bradley Grant (10) as Prince.

Deputies are Lutton St Nicholas Primary School pupil Mollie Bracey (9) and nine-year-old Jake Winkett, of Spalding’s St Paul’s School.

The winners and runners-up will get to take part in a range of civic duties and receive prizes from a number of different local businesses.

The judging panel consisted of Coun Angela Newton, Terry Moore, of Bakkavor, MP John Hayes and Free Press editor Jeremy Ransome.

Marisa, who goes to Spalding’s St Norbert’s School, impressed them with her compassionate and caring nature, while Bradley told judges how he likes to achieve and spoke very fondly of his mum.
