A MAN who served in the army for 25 years is due to join Spalding police at the end of the year.
Andrew Hill (43), currently living in the Spalding area and training at police headquarters in Nettleham, is looking forward to his new challenge.
After retiring from the army in 2010, he joined a military charity supporting operationally wounded soldiers, their families and families of the bereaved.
Mr Hill (pictured right) said: “Within this role I travelled the country assisting people in rebuilding their life’s after a traumatic event, offering financial, practical and emotional support.
“I’m currently still in the early stages of my training, which at the moment is focusing on developing core skills such as communication, having respect for others and understanding diversity.
“In the near future we will start learning the law and its practical application.
“I’m very much looking forward to working in Spalding from December when the initial phase of my police training is completed.”
