And earlier this month, a man with links to the school going back 50 years was called on to officially open the new area.
Mr Brian Hendry, an ex parent and vice-chairman of governors, cut the ribbon to declare the library open before parents and children explored the project for themselves.
Funded by the hard work and generous donations of the PTFA, the library has been redecorated and carpeted, and houses smart, colourful new bookcases and a range of comfortable seating. That includes two cosy ‘snugs’ that were being tested by Jemima and Lydia (right) while Tabitha (left) settled down in one of the new chairs to browse a book.
Head teacher Clare Ogden thanked all those who contributed directly or indirectly to the project, not least the children who submitted their ideas.
One of the librarians, Hannah Murchie, said: “The library looks great. It was a long wait, but it definitely paid off. It feels good to see all our ideas finally put together.”
