A new kitchen at St John the Baptist Primary School in Spalding will be linked in with a healthy eating scheme.

The mobile building was delivered on saturday morning after Department of Educationfunding and the school can now supply fresh hot meals to all 430 pupils on site.

New chef Martin Reid is working on an inspiring menu, using high quality fresh ingredients from local suppliers.

The children will have lots of input into the menu and there will also be a fresh salad bar every day and fruit readily available in addition to their main meal and desert.

The kitchen will become part of the drive to teach children the ‘Farm to Fork’ message. With plans to introduce an allotment to the school grounds in September, children will grow their own fruit and vegetables and enjoy eating them in their lunches.

The kitchen should be ready by November, once all services are linked up to the kitchen.
