Carers in Spalding, who a few months ago feared would be out of work, are celebrating winning a countywide contract which has created even more jobs.

A jobs fair was held on Wednesday to invite people interested in care to join the Lincs Reablement team, part of Allied Healthcare.

We are so excited to have been awarded the contract for reablement for the whole of the county

It is one of a number being held around the county, needed to boost the 100-plus support workers already helping residents regain their independence in the home, following illness or a stay in hospital.

Lisa Portass, field care supervisor, said: “We are so excited to have been awarded the contract for reablement for the whole of the county.

“A few months ago it looked like our branch might have to close but now we are looking for more people interested in care to join us.

“Job Centres have been very supportive and our first recruitment day in Spalding went really well. Because it is a countywide contract we are looking for drivers but mainly people enthusiastic about care and our new contract.”

Dates of other recruitment days are Thursday, November 19 - Mablethorpe CLIP; Friday, November 20 - Stamford Job Centre; Tuesday, November 24 - Boston Job Centre; Wednesday, November 25 - Skegness Job Centre; Friday, November 27 - Louth Job Centre; and Wednesday, December 2 - Gainsborough Job Centre.
