Long Sutton has a new industrial chaplain, the Rev William Ruddle.

He was welcomed by the community at a special service at St Mary’s Church.

Mr Ruddle joins Lincolnshire Chaplaincy Services from Ashtead Baptist Church in Surrey where he was pastor.

After his first pastoral charge in Macclesfield for five years, he was a hospital chaplain in Essex and the bereavement service manager.

He has background experience of running a small business and hopes to bring his learning of business and spirituality together in this new role for south east Lincolnshire.

Married with twins, Mr Ruddle and his wife, Louise, enjoy property renovation, chess, rugby and wine collecting.

It has been a busy period for St Mary’s. The Bishop of Grimsby David Court attended a meeting at the Market House on migrant working conditions, when the speaker was Sarah Short.

The church also hosted a medieval mystery play, with guest speaker Canon Andrew Vaughan.

Members of the audience were invited to step back in time with Redeemed, a drama and music project between local schools and Act II Theatre Company. This was their third production.
