Churches and other community groups in Deeping St James are joining forces to launch a foodbank to help needy people in the area.

Donations from schools and churches have already come in ahead of a public meeting about the foodbank at The Deepings School, Park Road, Deeping St James, on Monday at 7.30pm.

The foodbank will be run by volunteers and members of Churches Together in the Deepings who plan to be part of the Trussell Trust, the UK’s largest foodbank network.

A spokesman for Churches Together in the Deepings said: “There are a growing number of people in the Deepings who need this kind of support and even a relatively small problem can throw people living on the edge of poverty into crisis.

“Every day, people are forced to go to bed hungry but the good news is that you can be part of the solution.”
