Roman Catholics in Holbeach are celebrating the appointment of the area’s first parish priest in almost 20 years.
Father Paul Lloyd has vowed to work with both committed and lapsed Catholics after being appointed priest in succession to Father Patrick Mulligan, although the parish has been recently looked after by Spalding parish priest Father James Burke.
An ordination service for Father Lloyd was held at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Holbeach, led by Monsignor Canon Thomas McGovern of St Peter and St Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lincoln.
Father Lloyd, who moved to Holbeach in September 2011, said: “I am very pleased to accept the responsibilities of being Parish Priest of Holbeach as I feel settled in the area.
“I have a strong desire to work with both the people who attend Holy Trinity Church and those Catholics who do not currently attend masses to build on the strong foundation that exists here.”
