THE new associate vicar of St Paul’s Church in Spalding, the Rev Michael Chesher, was licensed by the Rt Rev Christopher Lowson, the Bishop of Lincoln, at a special service on Monday.

The Celebration of a new Ministry was undertaken at St Paul’s, Fulney, where Mr Chesher will serve as associate vicar in addition to St Mary & St Nicolas Church. He will assume responsibility for St Paul’s and will assist in ministry at St Mary & St Nicolas, working with colleagues in the group to strengthen Christian discipleship and lay ministry.

The bishop conducted the formal affirmation and assent, the greeting to welcome the new associate vicar, the formal licensing and presentation of Mr Chesher to the people of the parish. Finally, Mr Chesher and his new ministerial colleagues received the bishop’s blessing.

The bishop also prayed for Frankie Lee, who will be assistant curate at the two parishes after his ordination. This was followed by prayers for the community by the new associate vicar.
