Our churches have been a riot of colour for the popular annual flower festivals.

Many churches added special attractions to add to the power of flowers and, at Holbeach All Saints’ Church, there was a community fun day, including a programme of entertainment put together by Stephen Johnson, of Let’s Get You Moving.

Vicar the Rev Rosamund Seal said the entertainment drew the crowds, especially for the performance by Holbeach Town Band.

She said: “Holbeach Flower Festival raised in the region of £2,300. We have agreed that ten per cent of this should go to support the rescue work following the Nepal earthquake and the rest will be used for the ongoing mission and ministry of All Saints’ Church for which funds are always needed.

“The flower festival was an outright success with ten more displays than when we reintroduced the flower festival in 2014 and some very positive comments from our visitors.

“We are particularly grateful to the schools and local community groups who all contributed displays and stalls.”

A star attraction at the event was a model of the church made out of coins by Clare Stupples, with 600 people trying to guess its worth.
