IT WAS a neck and neck finish at the annual race night held at Long Sutton, with two worthy causes benefiting equally from the evening.

Long Sutton Market House trustee Michael Booth organised the race night at the church hall in the town, something he does every year, and between 110 and 115 people turned out to support it.

Michael said: “I organise it through the Market House at Long Sutton. It’s a popular event and we had a good turn-out.”

The £1,260 that was raised was split evenly between St Mary’s Church and the Market House, a volunteer-run, multi-use community centre. The centre offers a number of services, such as a telephone interpreting and written translation service.

Michael and Market House treasurer Angela Reeve presented the cheque to Father Jonathan Sibley on behalf of St Mary’s Church outside the Market House recently.
