PUPILS at Tydd St Mary School will soon be benefiting from a new wildlife area thanks to the fundraising efforts of their parents.

PUPILS at Tydd St Mary School will soon be benefiting from a new wildlife area thanks to the fundraising efforts of their parents.

The parent and teacher association is hoping to raise money towards turning wasteland on the school site into a quiet area for the children.

They began their fundraising efforts with an event featuring a live band and disco at Sutton St James village hall on Saturday which raised nearly £600.

Teacher Mark Spelman is a member of band The Returns, who happily gave their time to help the cause.

The disco was supplied free of charge by one of the parents.

Organiser Tanya Wilson said: “This was our first event especially for adults and it was a definite success.

“Not only did everyone seem to have a great time, we also raised funds towards the nature area.”
