RETIRED local government officer Maurice Anthony Chilvers, of Wygate Road, Spalding, died on May 9 in Pilgrim Hospital Boston. He was 82.
Born in Spalding, he attended the Gleed Boys’ School. After leaving school Mr Chilvers worked for Manns outfitters then Berrills Department Store and lastly worked for 25 years for South Holland District Council in the housing department.
In his younger days he was a youth leader at Broad Street Methodist Youth Club and was a player and secretary of Spalding Table Tennis for many years. Mr Chilvers was a bachelor.
A funeral service was held at Spalding Parish Church followed by interment in Spalding Cemetery. Family mourners were Mr and Mrs I Croft, Mrs A H Chilvers, Mr A P Chilvers, Mr and Mrs J Bailey, Mr G Stafford, Mr P Stafford, Mr and Mrs M Chilvers, Mr J Chilvers, Miss H Chilvers, Miss J Chilvers, Mrs S Chilvers, Mr I Chilvers, Mr K Chilvers, Mr C Chilvers, Mr T Chilvers, Mr and Mrs M Killingsworth, Mr and Mrs Cannon, Mrs K Croft, Mrs T Kerfoot.
Mr and Mrs S M Chilvers were unable to attend.
