CONCERNS over future support for dementia patients and their families have been raised with South Holland and the Deepings MP John Hayes.

Members of Dementia Support South Lincs had the chance to meet Mr Hayes – and send him looking for answers on some of the issues they face.

The group helps to provide support for about 140 families across the south of the county.

It has been partially funded by the Stamford-based Evergreen Care Trust but otherwise relies on its own members to fundraise. They run monthly meetings in Market Deeping, Bourne and Stamford.

Management committee chairman Heather Gilling said: “We wanted to speak to Mr Hayes about what we have done, which is in keeping with the Big Society and helping people to help themselves.

“We also wanted to say there are issues both in the county and nationally about dementia services.

“He spent more than an hour with us. It was a good two-way discussion.”
