A crowd of about 60 people celebrated as MP John Hayes cut the ribbon to officially mark the refurbishment of a village hall.

Whaplode Village Hall has recently undergone an £85,000 makeover, which has seen it refurbished inside including new toilets, heating, lighting and insulation, as well as a loop system for the hearing impaired and thermal, acoustic and fire retardant curtains and economy water heaters for the kitchen. The hall has also been fitted out with conference facilities.
A hard-working committee has spent almost three years bringing the project to fruition, including securing funding from a variety of sources, including the SITA Trust, South Holland District Council, Lincolnshire County Council and Whaplode Parish Council.
Treasurer Pamela McNeil said: “The hall is well used and although it has been hard work we are pleased with the result of the revamp.” Photo:SG120413-121TW
